Maternity Photographer Bangkok
Newborn, Cake Smash, and First Birthday
The first sleepy newborn snuggles last only days. Your baby's first weeks pass in a blur of feeds and naps. The first birthday cake smash happens once. Time keeps moving, but professional photos hold these moments still.
I take time to catch what's actually happening. Dad tearing up the first time he holds your newborn. Your toddler giggling halfway through the session. These are the family images you'll come back to for years.
Bangkok Maternity Shoot Gallery,
Newborn to First Birthday
Maternity & Newborn Photographer
With 16+ Years in Bangkok
I'm Luk, founder and lead photographer at Lukfoto. For over 16 years I've worked exclusively with newborns and early childhood in Bangkok, which means I know what to do when a baby fusses, when a toddler hides, and when a mum needs a break. I personally handle every newborn baby photoshoot from first message to final delivery.
My approach blends international best practices with what actually works in Bangkok's tropical climate and Thai cultural settings, including ongoing newborn safety and posing training.
What's included in every session:
- Pre-session consultation to plan outfits, location, and timing
- Direction during the shoot so you don't have to know how to pose
- Professional editing on every delivered image
- Private gallery delivered through Google Drive
- Flexible rescheduling when babies decide otherwise
Safety stays non-negotiable with newborns. I'm fully vaccinated, sanitize equipment between sessions, and use safe composite methods for those curled-up infant poses to protect baby's head and neck.

Maternity Photos in Bangkok,
On Your Terms
My documentary lifestyle approach captures organic moments, the unguarded emotions that make your family feel like yours. I shoot mostly in natural light to keep your maternity photos soft, authentic, and timeless instead of trendy. Knowing this city inside out helps too. From Lumphini Park's gardens to Benjakitti Park's skyline views, I know the corners of the area that most lists never mention.
I also come to you. If you'd rather have your newborn or family session documented at home, I'll guide you through poses that feel right in your own space. If you prefer outdoor settings, we plan around the late afternoon light and shaded spots so the heat doesn't drain you.
How a typical Bangkok session runs:
- We chat about your baby's age, the vibe you want, and any cultural touches.
- We pick the right setting for you, home, an outdoor location, or our indoor studio.
- We schedule for late afternoon when the light is gentle and the city cools down.
- I direct the session with clear, easy posing cues so nothing feels stiff.
- You receive your gallery within 5 days, ready to share.
For a newborn baby photoshoot, this depth of experience makes a clear difference. I've handled thousands of tiny babies and learned to read their cues quickly. Every infant is different, some sleepy, some alert, and the session adapts to who shows up that day.
Families celebrating a 1st birthday can add a baby cake smash. These sessions usually finish with bath time pictures, because most kids love splashing in bubbles right after the icing.

Prefer an Air-Conditioned Studio?
That Works Too
The heat in Thailand is no joke, and not every baby or toddler handles outdoor sessions well. Some newborns sleep better in a controlled indoor setting, some little ones get fussy in humidity, and some mums simply feel more relaxed inside.
For those families, I shoot at our Bangkok photo studio. The studio runs on full air conditioning, has clean controlled lighting, and gives babies a quiet space without traffic noise or strong sunlight. The same maternity photos and family work I do outdoors translate naturally to the studio setup.
The indoor studio is often the better choice when:
- Your newborn is under 3 weeks old and needs warmth and quiet for those curled-up sleepy poses
- It's the hot season in April or May and outdoor afternoons feel too intense
- Your toddler is in a phase where unfamiliar outdoor places make them anxious
- You want a clean, neutral backdrop instead of a city or park setting
- Privacy matters and you'd rather not pose in public spaces
Outdoor shoots have their own strengths, the city's atmosphere, natural light, and a sense of place. Studio shoots have theirs, comfort, control, and consistency. Neither is better. We pick whichever fits your family best, and you can also split a session between both if your package allows.
If you're not sure which works for you, mention it during your consultation and I'll talk you through it.

What Bangkok Families
Are Saying
Luk handled my Bangkok maternity shoot at Lumphini Park with real care. He worked around the afternoon heat, found gorgeous natural light, and made me feel comfortable from start to finish. The maternity photos came out way better than I'd hoped. Highly recommend for any family in the city.
We were nervous about our newborn shoot, but Luk's experience really showed. He was patient with our baby girl, and his safety knowledge put us at ease as new parents. The session ran about 2.5 hours and he worked around feeding times without any rush.
Luk documented our family from pregnancy through our son's first birthday cake smash. His relaxed approach captured genuine moments instead of stiff poses. So happy to have these real images saved for life.

Your Questions Answered
The sweet spot is the first 2 weeks after birth, when babies sleep deeply and curl up naturally for those classic poses. Sessions are still possible up to 3 months, just with a more alert baby and a different look. The smartest move is to reach out during your second or third trimester so I can hold a flexible window around your due date.
The first 2 weeks are golden because little ones sleep deeply and curl up naturally. If life gets in the way, no pressure. I shoot newborn images up to 3 months old. Every baby is different and the session adapts to their personality.
Safety comes first. I'm fully vaccinated, sanitize my equipment, and use trained newborn handling techniques. Those curled-up poses use safe composite methods that protect your little one's head and neck.
Yes. Some babies sleep better indoors, and Bangkok's hot season can be tough on toddlers. We can shoot at the Bangkok photo studio with full air conditioning, controlled lighting, and a quiet setting. Many families do a mix, indoor newborn sessions and outdoor sessions later when the weather suits an older baby.
Yes, sibling shots are some of my favourite frames. I plan the session so older brothers and sisters meet the baby for a few minutes at a time, then take breaks. That keeps everyone calm and the photos honest. If your toddler is in a shy phase, I work around it instead of forcing it.
A cake smash is a celebratory shoot around your child's first birthday where the star of the show gets a small cake to dive into. We pick a colour theme, set up a clean backdrop, and let your one-year-old explore. Most sessions wrap with bath time photos, because frosting goes everywhere.
For all sessions, comfortable outfits and any props that mean something to you. For newborns, bring diapers, bottles, and backup clothes. I send a detailed prep guide once you book so nothing gets forgotten.
Newborn sessions run 2-3 hours because we go at baby's pace, including feeds and outfit changes. Family and sibling shoots take 1-2 hours of relaxed shooting in golden afternoon light. Baby cake smash sessions take up to 1 hour and capture all the messy little moments that make the joyful pictures.
Babies don't read calendars. I offer flexible rescheduling for newborn sessions since birth timing is unpredictable. For other sessions, we find dates that work without penalty.
This page covers post-birth work. For pregnancy-focused sessions including trimester-specific posing, styled bump shoots, gender reveals, and couple sessions, see the dedicated pregnancy photoshoot page.
