Neon Photography in Chinatown | Lukfoto

When neon signs blaze across wet asphalt and Bangkok’s Chinatown pulses with night energy, we create photos you won’t find anywhere else in the world.

This is our signature session. No other photographer in Bangkok creates this type of work, and most likely no one in the world has a similar style and approach to this location.

What Makes This Session Special

Chinatown in Bangkok is a unique place that offers moments you’ll only find here while traveling in Thailand. The combination of colorful signs, street energy, and authentic atmosphere creates images you won’t get anywhere else.

We’ve been here hundreds of times with families, couples, and pre-wedding sessions. We know every corner and work efficiently to give you a good variety of photos.

Two Styles in One Evening

We shoot between 7pm and 10pm, with sessions typically lasting one hour. Besides the classic neon look, we also offer cinematic night style photography in more urban environments nearby. This approach has a slightly different vibe where we use more red and blue tones.

We incorporate skytrain backgrounds and skylines for that cyberpunk aesthetic. Think Blade Runner vibes with modern Bangkok as your backdrop – neon reflections glowing against glass towers and elevated railways cutting through the frame.

You can book a two-hour session that combines both styles on the same day. Start with cinematic shots in the urban area, then move to Chinatown for the colorful neon finale.

Creative Techniques We Use

We love to play with reflections using our props. After rain, asphalt reflections add an extra layer of depth to your images.

If you like photos with Chinese letters covering your face, we can bring our projector for that effect. It creates an artistic touch that works great for creative portraits.

Beyond the Neon Glow

Your entire session doesn’t have to focus only on signs and colors. We sometimes use flashlight techniques for a different style and mood.

We’ll capture you interacting with snack stalls, eating noodles at local spots, walking among the crowd, or sitting in a tuk-tuk. Share candid moments with your friend, partner, or family. We love shooting fun moments inside a 7-11 store for that authentic Bangkok feel.

Daytime to Nighttime Sessions

Want to maximize your photoshoot day? You can start with a daytime session before sunset at locations like temples, riverside areas, or nearby streets. Then finish at night for the neon experience within an hour or more.

This gives you completely different looks in one booking.

Our Photography Style

We love working with bold colors and dynamic compositions. These sessions are the best examples of our approach to visual storytelling.

We’re open to your ideas, poses, and even cosplays. Unusual concepts excite us, so bring your creativity along.

What to Bring and Wear

We highly recommend bringing sunglasses for cool portrait shoots. They create amazing reflections with the colored glow.

Our preference is for white tops, and we suggest avoiding black clothes. But this is just our recommendation – you can bring anything you want. Some clients like to wear traditional Chinese tops, which look fantastic in this setting.

You can change outfits as many times as you want. Bathrooms in cafes and restaurants are available for about 20 baht if needed. Or you can quickly change behind a corner on the street.

Timing and Crowd Considerations

On Mondays, there are fewer stalls open and about half the usual number of people. This can make the photoshoot easier for you, though it makes no difference for us.

Sometimes there are big events in the area. In October, the vegetarian festival runs for about two weeks. Chinese New Year happens in February or March.

These events cause the night market to become very crowded and even more unique. We can still manage to create a great session during these times.

Privacy and Files

If you need complete privacy, we can send raw files and won’t share any images without your permission.

Who This Session Is For

We’ve worked with many families, couples, and pre-wedding clients in this location. Whether you’re traveling solo, with your partner, or with your whole family, this experience works for everyone.

The combination of authentic street life, colorful backdrops, and our efficient approach ensures you’ll walk away with images that tell your story.

Recommended Spots in Chinatown

While you’re in the area for your photoshoot, consider visiting these places:

  1. Lhong Tou Cafe – unusual design and pretty good food
  2. Red Rose Jazz Bar – nice atmosphere and drinks
  3. Chop Chop Cook Shop – features great decor inside with colorful signs

For food, we recommend trying roti and fresh pomegranate juice. Both are local favorites worth tasting.
