Photoshoot at Lhong 1919, Bangkok's restored Chinese mansion
Wooden Chinese architecture, red shrines, courtyards, riverside backdrop. Quiet and good for portraits, with one important caveat about timing.

The site is changing
Lhong 1919 is being redeveloped. There is active construction on the side of the property and that section is becoming part of the new Ritz-Carlton.
The historic courtyards and shrines are still open and we still shoot here. If access changes, we will redirect to a similar location like Talat Noi or Chinatown.
Part of the site is being redeveloped
Construction work runs alongside the historic mansion. The shoot avoids those sections, but the look and feel will keep evolving as the Ritz-Carlton build progresses.
Open 8am to 6pm on paper
Officially the site closes at 6pm, but in practice it usually shuts down earlier, around 5pm.
We schedule sessions in the afternoon to take advantage of the warmer light on the wooden facades, and we always wrap before the early close.
Outfits that work against red and wood
The site is dominated by red walls, dark teakwood, and gold detailing. Solid colours photograph better than loud patterns here.
Reds, golds, blues, and whites all work. Avoid small repeating patterns, they distort against the textured backgrounds.
Pair Lhong with another spot
Lhong 1919 fits in a 1-hour Sabai session, but it works best paired with Talat Noi, Chinatown, or ICONSIAM in a longer session.
