Who Books a Bangkok Photoshoot

The same location looks completely different depending on what you're shooting and who you're shooting for. Here's who we work with most often, and where each type of session typically points.

Tourists and solo travellers

Visiting for a week and want photos that actually look like Bangkok, not a phone selfie with a blurry temple behind you. Portrait sessions cover the iconic spots and hidden corners most visitors miss.

Couples

Travelling together and want photos that show real connection rather than stiff poses. Neon nights in Chinatown, golden hour by the Chao Phraya, flower markets. Couple photoshoots work at any time of day, and sunset sessions book out fastest.

Pre-wedding couples

Bangkok is one of Southeast Asia's most popular pre-wedding destinations. Multiple locations, outfit changes, cinematic editing with black mist grain effects. Pre-wedding photography packages start from two hours.

Families

Expat families based here, or international families on holiday wanting photos at parks, temples, or cultural streets. Family sessions work especially well at Lumphini Park and Benchakitti between 3-5pm.

Business travellers and executives

Corporate headshots, LinkedIn portraits, and professional branding content. Business photography sessions work well at One Bangkok Mall and modern urban backdrops around the city.

When to Shoot in Bangkok: A Practical Timing Guide

Bangkok's weather and light shift dramatically across the year. The timing of your session determines what you can shoot, how comfortable it feels, and how the photos look.

Best Window

Cool Season (November-February)

This is the best window for a Bangkok photoshoot. Temperatures sit around 22-28°C, humidity drops, and the afternoon sky turns a warm blue with no haze. Temple grounds are quieter in the late afternoon. Sunsets are sharper and longer.

Afternoons from 3pm are the prime window.

This is peak season, so book at least two weeks ahead, often more for weekends.

Heat Strategy

Hot Season (March-May)

Temperatures climb to 34-40°C and midday creates a heat haze that softens backgrounds and washes out colour. Outdoor shoots before 4pm become uncomfortable fast.

Start no earlier than 4pm.

Evening sessions from 6pm onward work extremely well. The heat cools, the city lights up, and neon locations like Chinatown are at their best. Rooftop bars photograph beautifully in this season after dark.

Rain Ready

Monsoon Season (June-October)

Rain is almost daily but rarely lasts more than 20-30 minutes. Sessions after 4pm work well. The storm usually passes and the air is clear and cool after rain, giving soft, even light with no harsh shadows.

We don't cancel for rain: we wait, move to covered areas, or reschedule at no charge.

The Pak Khlong Talat flower market, covered streets in Chinatown, and Talat Noi's shophouse arcades stay shootable even during showers.

3-5pm
Afternoon

Soft directional light at temples and parks with natural warmth. Best for families, portraits, and pre-wedding sessions with daytime outfits. Most popular time slot overall.

5-7pm
Golden Hour and Sunset

The most flattering outdoor light of the day. The Chao Phraya riverside and the Sunset viewpoint facing Wat Arun. Romantic and cinematic. Pre-wedding photography sessions should target this window at riverside locations between November and February.

After 7pm
Evening and Night

Neon-lit streets in Chinatown and Yaowarat come alive. Rooftop bars and urban spots take on a completely different energy. Best for couples, solo portraits, and pre-wedding shoots with a dramatic look.

We never schedule outdoor sessions at midday. Bangkok's direct midday sun creates harsh shadows on faces and washes out colour.

What to Wear for a Bangkok Photoshoot

Bangkok's heat, dress codes, and varied shooting environments mean outfit choice matters more here than in most cities. Here's practical guidance for each context.

01

Managing Bangkok's Heat

Breathable fabrics like linen, lightweight cotton, and silk blends look and feel better than synthetic materials. Avoid black in outdoor afternoon sessions: it absorbs heat and can look flat in bright light. Light, solid colours photograph cleanly and stand out against Bangkok's richly detailed backdrops. Bring a small towel and water, especially between March and October.

02

Temple Dress Code

Shoulders and knees must be covered at Wat Pho, Loha Prasat, and all active temples. No wedding dresses, formal gowns, evening gowns, or tuxedos inside temple grounds. Thai traditional costume is allowed. Indian attire is permitted if it covers shoulders and knees, but bridal-style Indian photoshoot outfits are not. Keep a light cover-up or wrap skirt in your bag when temple locations are on the itinerary.

03

Neon and Night Locations

Bold, saturated colours work well in Chinatown at night. They interact with the neon signs rather than fighting them. Avoid white: it reflects the surrounding neons strangely and blows out in camera. Dark outfits with a single strong colour accent photograph particularly well against the red and yellow light of Yaowarat.

04

Rooftop Bars

Smart casual is the minimum. Evening gowns are allowed; wedding dresses and tuxedos are not. Men need collared shirts and long trousers. We confirm the venue's dress code as part of session planning.

05

Corporate and Business Portraits

Light linen blazers photograph better than heavy wool suits in Bangkok's climate. A full suit works fine for shorter sessions in air-conditioned areas or evening shoots. Bring a second shirt if you're doing a 2+ hour session, even with good timing, Bangkok heat means you'll want a fresh option by the second location.

We work with professional makeup artists and hairstylists who can join your session from 3,500 THB, and a fashion stylist who can advise on outfits for camera. Dress rental is also available for pre-wedding couples who want a gown or suit without packing one.

What Clients Say

"

We shot at Talat Noi and then moved to Chinatown for the neons after dark. The whole session felt like exploring the city with a friend who knew exactly where to go. The photos came back the next morning, better than anything I've seen from other Bangkok photographers. We used them for our save-the-date and everyone asked who shot them.

I was nervous because my husband and I are both terrible in front of cameras. By the time we got to the riverside sunset we'd completely forgotten about the camera. The Wat Arun backdrop in the golden hour was everything I wanted. Photos were delivered in 24 hours and every single one was edited properly. I wasn't expecting that from a two-hour session.

"

Booked this for corporate headshots at One Bangkok. I travel through Bangkok regularly and have tried other photographers. Lukfoto is a different level. They communicated clearly in English, knew the exact spots that photograph well, and had 80 edited images in my inbox before my flight the next morning. Already sent the link to my team in London.

Frequently Asked Questions: Bangkok Photoshoots

Do I need to pay temple entrance fees?

Yes. Wat Pho charges 200 THB per person. Wat Arun is 100 THB per person. Loha Prasat charges 20 THB per person. These are paid directly at the entrance on the day. We factor entrance times and queues into session planning so they don't eat into your shooting window.

Is it safe to shoot in Chinatown at night?

Yaowarat is one of Bangkok's most active commercial streets and is very safe at night. There are crowds, vendors, and street life throughout the evening. We've shot there hundreds of times since 2019. The main practical consideration is that it's busy, which means moving quickly between spots. We advise on timing and transport as part of session planning.

How do you get between locations during a Bangkok photoshoot?

For 1-hour Sabai sessions we typically stay close to one area. For 2-hour Sanook sessions, we plan efficient routes between locations so you don't waste session time in transit. The 4-hour Sawasdee Deluxe package includes private transport, which means seamless moves between distant locations like the flower market, a riverside temple, and Chinatown in one session.

What happens if it rains during monsoon season?

Bangkok's rain is usually short and intense, 20 to 40 minutes, then it clears. We wait it out, move to a covered area nearby such as Chinatown's covered walkways, temple courtyards, or Talat Noi's shophouse arcades, or keep shooting if it's light drizzle and the look works. If the rain is heavy enough to genuinely ruin the session, we reschedule at no charge.

Can you arrange hair and makeup on the day?

Yes. We work with a team of professional makeup artists and hairstylists who can join your session. Natural Glam starts from 5,000 THB, Full Glam from 5,500 THB, with hair styling from 3,500 THB. Book at least a week ahead to confirm artist availability on your date. For pre-wedding couples, two weeks ahead is recommended.

Do you shoot outside Bangkok?

Yes. The Ancient City and Erawan Museum are both in Samut Prakan, about 30 minutes from central Bangkok, and we include them in standard Bangkok session planning. For further destinations, we cover Pattaya, Hua Hin, Khao Yai, Chiang Mai, and other provinces across Thailand. Out-of-city sessions start from 34,000 THB for 4 hours including travel.

How many photos do I actually receive?

We quote minimums; you almost always receive more. A 1-hour Sabai session is quoted at 100-200 photos but our editing workflow moves quickly and we'd rather give you the full take than hold back. You receive every edited photo from the session, not a curated selection of 20.
