Rooftop Bars in Bangkok

Bangkok Rooftop Bars
for Your Photoshoot

Not every rooftop works for photography. These three do, and each one gives you a different kind of photo. Here is what sets them apart.

32F Yao · Surawongse
25F Mimi's · Samyan
52 & 64F Lebua · State Tower

Flash isn't allowed at any of these rooftops. We use available light and a small LED where staff aren't around, which is why we time rooftop stops for golden hour into early evening.

Marriott Surawongse • 32nd Floor

Yao Rooftop Bar & Restaurant

360-degree city views

A 360-degree city view with a strong Chinese aesthetic: carved screens, ceramics, and a multi-level terrace. The interior detail gives your photos a layer that plain glass terraces cannot.

Opens at 5pm. Drinks are about 300 THB each, including ours. A reservation is needed in high season. Outdoor.

Best for: couples, proposals, pregnancy sessions, anyone who wants a rich visual backdrop.

dusitD2 Samyan • 25th Floor

Mimi's Rooftop Bar

Miami-inspired color palette

Miami-inspired pinks, pastel tones, and lit signage. Two shooting zones: a colorful lower floor for editorial portraits, and an open upper terrace with skyline views. A session covers both in around 30 minutes.

It's smaller and beachier than the others, so it works best as a 20 to 30 minute add-on rather than a whole session. It's 4 minutes from Yao, so the two pair well.

One drink required to enter, about 300 THB each, including ours. Sessions from 5 PM. Sam Yan MRT (Blue Line) is a short walk away.

Best for: couples, solo portraits, groups and celebrations.

Photoshoot at Lebua Sky Bar, State Tower Bangkok

State Tower • 52nd & 64th Floors

Lebua at State Tower

Iconic Chao Phraya panorama

Two floors, two very different shots. The 52nd floor has a curved glass arch we use for proposals more than anywhere else in Bangkok. The 64th floor is the Sky Bar, with one of the widest Chao Phraya River panoramas in the city.

Opens at 5:30pm. Proposals here always start right at opening, because it's quietest then and the light still works. Later it's dark, flash isn't allowed, and the staircase has a queue of people recreating the Hangover scene, so we propose at the arch or the railing instead.

Drinks from about 1k THB ($30) per person, including ours. The dress code is smart casual and enforced. No sportswear, swimwear, flip-flops or sleeveless shirts for men (checked October 2026). Bags go into storage at the entrance, and there's an ATM on the ground floor. About 80% of it is outdoors, with 2 to 3 indoor spots on the 64th floor.

Add 15 to 20 minutes to your expected arrival time for traffic.

Best for: proposals, couples, groups wanting an iconic Bangkok backdrop.

If the drinks budget matters, Yao gives you a strong rooftop for a fraction of the cost.

Venue policy means we cannot share Lebua photos publicly. Get in touch and we will send you samples from our sessions there.

These are the only three rooftops we shoot at. The others are crowded, lack a 360 view, have fewer spots, or sit too far out on congested roads.

What to wear

Evening wear, cocktail dresses, suits and tuxedos all work here. Bridal outfits, meaning a wedding dress, veil or gown, aren't allowed at rooftop bars.

Good to know

Rooftop shoot questions

What is the best time for a rooftop shoot?

Come at opening time. Yao and Mimi's open at 5 PM (checked October 2026). We get the last daylight first, then the city lights come on. Flash is not allowed, so late at night is too dark for good photos.

Do we pay to get in?

There is no entry ticket. You pay for drinks, and our drink is on the bill too. Mimi's asks for one drink per person. Lebua takes a deposit when you book a table, and it comes off your bill (checked October 2026).

Is there a dress code?

Yao is smart casual at the bar. Lebua is smart casual and checks at the door: no sportswear, swimwear, flip-flops or sleeveless shirts for men (checked October 2026). No rooftop allows bridal outfits.

How do we get there?

Mimi's is a short walk from Sam Yan MRT, and Yao is 4 minutes away by car. For Lebua, take the BTS to Saphan Taksin and walk about 10 minutes, or take a Grab to State Tower. Add 15 to 20 minutes for traffic.

How long does a rooftop shoot take?

Mimi's takes 20 to 30 minutes. Yao or Lebua work well in 30 to 60 minutes. In a 1-hour session we can cover one rooftop well, or pair Yao and Mimi's.

Can children come along?

Yes, at Yao and Mimi's. At Lebua, children from 7 years old are welcome with an adult (checked October 2026).
