Koh Kood Photographer -
Raw Tropical Island Sessions

No crowds, no party strip, no tourist overload. Just crystal-clear water, jungle greenery, and some of the most beautiful light in the Gulf of Thailand.

Bang Bao Beach 4-8 Hour Sessions 600-1,100+ Edited Photos RAW Files Included From ฿34,000

Most tourists heading to Thailand think of Phuket or Koh Samui. Very few have heard of Ko Kut. That's exactly what makes it so good for photography. No crowds, no party strip, no tourist overload. Just raw tropical landscape and some of the cleanest water in the Gulf of Thailand.

We've shot on this island multiple times and know where the light hits, where to find an empty shoreline, and which resort grounds are worth exploring with a camera. This page covers everything we've learned.

Plan ahead and stay long

We recommend staying at least 5 days. This gives you time to explore the island properly and not feel rushed during your shoot.

Koh Kood Beaches for Photoshoots

The island has several beaches. Not all are equal for photography. Here's how we rank them and why.

01

Bang Bao Beach

This is our favorite spot on the island. The water is clear and the trees grow right up to the shoreline, which creates natural framing that's hard to find elsewhere. The combination of shade, water, and tropical greenery gives us a lot to work with in a single location.

It works across different times of day and suits a wide range of styles. Couples sessions here tend to be some of our most natural-looking work because the environment does a lot of the heavy lifting.

02

Haad Khlong Hin Beach

The beach itself is good, but we prefer the right side. It tends to have fewer people and more greenery, which makes it easier to get clean shots without managing background distractions. Good option if Bang Bao is busy or if you want some variety during a longer session.

03

Ao Jark Bay

More remote than the other options, which is a plus. Getting there takes a bit more effort, but the payoff is a quieter stretch of coastline with solid photo opportunities. If you're planning a full-day shoot, this is worth including in the itinerary.

04

Khlong Han Beach and Secret Sunset Beach

Both beaches sit on the same coast and share a similar feel. Tall palm trees lean toward the water and the light during golden hour here is something else. This is the spot for palm tree silhouette shots and sunset portraits. If you only visit one beach for sunset, make it this coast.

water clarity
Other months - still good, noticeably less clear

Water Quality and Timing

Water transparency on Ko Kut varies by season. We've shot here in December and January and the water was exceptional. In other months it's still good but noticeably less clear. Either way, it's still far cleaner than what you'll find on more developed islands.

For the clearest water in photos, December and January are the better months. That said, we've had great results in other months too. The difference shows most in wide shots and shallow-water frames.

Resort Locations Worth Knowing

Some resorts on Koh Kood have grounds that work really well for photography. Here are the ones we return to.

A-Na-Lay Resort

The wooden deck here is long and well-maintained. The overall vibe fits a relaxed, warm aesthetic. There are spots near the beach, around rocks, and among the greenery that give you real variety within one location. You don't need to book the hotel to shoot here, which makes it flexible for clients staying elsewhere on the island.

Kiri Private Reserve

The most high-end resort on the island. The facilities and grounds reflect that. If you're looking for a luxury setting with well-designed spaces, this is the place. It photographs differently from the natural beach locations and works well for a more polished editorial style. It pairs well with our portrait sessions when clients want a refined, fashion-forward feel.

Hideout Koh Kood

A quieter, more laid-back hotel with a good restaurant and beach access nearby. We've shot in this area and recommend it. The relaxed atmosphere translates well into photos and the surroundings don't feel overdeveloped.

Coco Camping Koh Kood

This one is different from the others. It's a budget property with a Muay Thai gym set in the middle of the jungle. The whole location has a raw, textured quality that makes for interesting images. It works especially well for yoga photography or anything with a natural, grounded feel. Worth knowing: most rooms don't have air conditioning, so keep that in mind if you're thinking about staying there rather than just shooting there.

What to Expect from a Koh Kood Photoshoot

A session on Ko Kut gives you access to a range of environments within a short distance of each other. In a single day, you can move between a jungle resort, a palm-lined sunset beach, and a quiet cove with clear water.

This structure works well for couples, solo portraits, and family sessions alike. We adjust based on how much time you have and what kind of images you're after.

Extend Your Trip: Koh Mak and Koh Kham

If you have extra time after Koh Kood, we strongly recommend two days on Koh Mak. From there, you can take a longtail boat to Koh Kham, our favorite island in all of Thailand. We offer photoshoots on Koh Mak too, so it's easy to add a second session to your trip.

Koh Kham doesn't appear on most travel itineraries. That's the point. The same is true of Ko Kut itself.

Getting to Koh Kham

The longtail boats to Koh Kham depart from Koh Mak Resort
The crossing takes about 10 minutes
We recommend staying on Ao Soun Yai Beach on Koh Mak for easy access
Koh Kham is small and largely undeveloped, which gives you a completely different landscape compared to Koh Kood

Getting to Koh Kood

Travel from Bangkok takes roughly 5 hours by car, or about 4 hours from Pattaya. If you'd rather fly, there are flights from Suvarnabhumi Airport to Trat Province that take under an hour, followed by a 50-minute drive to the pier, a 15 to 30-minute wait for the ferry, an hour on the water, and a 20 to 30-minute taxi ride to your hotel.

The journey is long but the reward is real. Ko Kood is one of the best islands in Asia, and the effort to get there keeps the crowds away.

Planning Your Koh Kood Photoshoot

The island's remoteness means coordination matters more here than in a city. We ask clients to confirm travel dates and accommodation in advance so we can plan locations around your schedule and the light conditions.

Ko Kut rewards people who plan ahead. The island is quiet, the settings are varied, and the results speak for themselves. Get in touch and we'll put together a session that fits your trip.
