Discover Bangkok’s Hidden Gems Through a Photographer’s Lens
Having conducted over 1000 photoshoots in Bangkok, we’ve been photographing people in this city for years and know it like the back of our hand. Below are places to visit in Bangkok through the eyes of experienced photographers – this is not another copied or generic AI-generated site. If you’re looking for a professional photoshoot in Bangkok, take a look at our package plans.
Temple Sunset Magic: Wat Pho and Riverside Views
One of the most popular tourist places in Bangkok is the iconic Wat Pho where you can see the impressive big buddha.
We’ll start our session around 5pm (depending on the season) to catch perfect lighting at this buddhist temple. The best part? It’s just a 3-minute walk to a stunning sunset spot by the river – perfect for those dreamy golden hour portraits!
Want to make your photos truly special? You can rent traditional Thai costumes for your Pho temple photoshoot, creating memorable images with the reclining Buddha statue. This Bangkok itinerary typically takes an hour, but we can extend to two hours if you want more photos in extra spots. For night photography enthusiasts, we can spend less time here and add Chinatown’s vibrant neons to your collection.
• Wat Pho temple
• Sunset by the river
+ Thai costume rental
+ Neons in Chinatown
- Session time: 1-2 hours
- Outfit: Light linen or cotton outfit in bright colors for sunset photos; women must wear clothes covering shoulders & knees at Wat Pho; bring a light scarf as backup coverage.
- Note: the buddha building can be crowded so you can visit it outside of your session. If you plan to dress in Thai clothes, allow half an hour before your session.
Cultural Immersion: Talat Noi and Chinatown by Day
For those who want to explore Bangkok’s cultural heart, our Talat Noi and Chinatown tour offers fantastic photo opportunities. We’ll begin in Talad Noi with its fascinating Talat Noi street art before hopping on a tuk-tuk to Chinatown’s bustling streets.
In Yaowarat Road (Chinatown’s main street), we’ll visit the colorful Sampheng market where vendors sell everything from fabrics to street food.
This area is one of the best places for photography in Bangkok with its vibrant colors and authentic local atmosphere.
For even more diversity in your photos, we can add another hour to visit the popular Song Wat road nearby – one of the hidden gems for photography enthusiasts.
- Session time: 1-2 hours
- Outfit: Breathable streetwear with hat and sunglasses for sun protection; comfortable walking shoes for exploring market areas; light layers for air-conditioned spaces.
Urban Night Photography: Mahanakhon and Samyan Mitrtown
For those seeking dramatic urban shots, our night photography session at pixel building (Mahanakhon) area creates dark, cinematic photos that will make your social media stand out.
We use LED lights, flash photography and special techniques to create moody red light portraits that make you look incredibly cool against the backdrop of this iconic skyscraper.
After capturing these urban vibes, we’ll head to Samyan Mitrtown’s sky garden where you can pose with stunning Bangkok skylines. This roof view place offers panoramic images that showcase the city’s vastness. Want more? We can extend the session to include neon-lit photos in Chinatown to capture the full range of best places for photography in Bangkok.
• Mahanakhon area and BTS station
• Samyan Mitrtown Sky Garden
+ Neons in Chinatown
- Session time: 1-2 hours
- Outfit: Evening outfit with bold colors or reflective elements that photograph well in low light; consider textures and patterns that add visual interest.

Nearby attractions include the French-style “Brioche by Heaven” bakery café and the spectacular Yao Skybar for panoramic cocktail shots. Next, we’ll take a taxi to Lhong1919, a calm old Chinese mansion with a shrine – a true hidden gem and absolutely non-touristy spot that’s perfect for Instagram.
Our final stop is another local secret: Tsai Eatery, a photogenic restaurant by the river known mainly to locals. Your photos will transport you to Bangkok’s 1980s era, capturing a side of the city many tourists miss. Next, we’ll visit Wat Hua Lamphong temple – a beautiful, non-touristy temple where locals come to pray, make wishes, and meet street fortune tellers after dark.
We’ll finish the session in Lumphini Park, one of the biggest parks in BKK. For something completely different, our next stop is the colorful Yokkao Muay Thai gym where we’ll capture fun action shots of you practicing Thailand’s national sport. Local Life and Sacred Sites: Cafés, Markets, and Temples
Discover one of Bangkok’s hidden gems – the cute Rama 8 Café located in a very local area across the river. After capturing photos with various cool setups and drinks, we’ll take a short taxi ride to Mahanak fruit market for fun pictures with exotic Thai fruits.
Next, we’ll visit two remarkable temples within walking distance of each other. First is Wat Saket (the “Golden Mount”), featuring Buddhist bells, panoramic views, and a famous sanctuary with Indian relics at the top – considered the navel of the city and part of historic Ratanakosin.
Then we’ll explore Loha Prasat with its unique architecture, nice views, and authentic atmosphere where you can experience monks chanting.
If you’re interested in more Bangkok temples, we can add Wat Benchamabophit, famous yet not crowded, with beautiful views and marble architecture.

Outside the City: Erawan Museum and Ancient City
Even if you have just 1 day in Bangkok, these two locations outside the city center are worth the trip. The Erawan Museum, with its massive three-headed elephant structure, offers one-of-a-kind architecture unlike anything else in the world. The museum grounds include a peaceful park with shrines, charming bridges, and a river.
About 20 minutes away by taxi is The Ancient City, the largest outdoor museum in the world. For a fun activity, rent a golf cart to drive around this vast complex featuring hundreds of amazing photo spots. This family-friendly tourist spot includes cafes, restaurants, shops, and best of all – no crowds! Plan to spend at least 4 hours here (2 hours minimum) as it’s about an hour from downtown and we don’t combine it with other locations.
- Session time: 4 hours
- Outfit: Lightweight vacation wear suitable for extensive outdoor exploration; sun hat, sunglasses, and very comfortable walking shoes; bring water bottle and small towel for humidity.
Customize Your Perfect Photo Tour
We can customize all plans and replace or add more places of interest not mentioned above but worth seeing:
Raynue – An amazing restaurant with colorful couches, bar, greenery, and city views
Chatuchak and Rot Fai parks – Huge, relaxing parks with cute spots and panoramic views, featuring a flower field beloved by locals
Toechew Cemetery – Atmospheric cemetery with Chinese graves, architecture, and a pretty big park – absolutely unknown to tourists
Wat Sutthiwararam – A pretty local temple near Asiatique
Sindhorn Village park – Charming green area between two premium hotels and shopping plaza
Wat Sitaram – A lesser-known temple with authentic Thai atmosphere and a famous Muay Thai gym nearby
Wat Ratchabophit – Our favorite temple (though formal photoshoots are no longer permitted)
Wat Arun – You probably saw it on every to-do list. Yes, it’s amazing but very crowded just like the Grand Palace, and we don’t enjoy taking photos there
Wat Prayun – Unique temple with a turtle pond where you can feed the turtles
For those who have visited Bangkok before, consider these additional places to see:
Wat Sam Phran, Bubble in the Forest, After the Rain – Unique attractions requiring a private driver, a bit far from the city
Suan Luang Rama IX – Beautiful park, though far from other attractions
Wat Suthat – If you have more time or you’re in the area, it’s a good idea to spend half an hour for a mini shoot, featuring interesting Chinese pagodas
Lebua at State Tower / Breeze – One of our favorite rooftop bars for photos (note that published photos are not permitted, only for private use)
