Why Hire a Krabi Photographer
You can self-shoot Krabi with a phone and get postcard photos. But the cliffs, light, and hidden coves here reward someone who's worked them before. A local Krabi photographer knows when Phra Nang clears of day-trippers, which tide makes Ao Rok Bay shootable, and how to route a session so you spend time in front of the camera, not in a car.
Krabi is also cheaper than Phuket or Samui. Hotels, food, and transport cost noticeably less, which leaves room in the budget for the experiences that matter, like a half-day boat tour to uninhabited islands or a proper photo session. The province has its own international airport, so getting in and out is simple, and it works as a base for day trips to Phuket, Koh Samui, or Khao Sok National Park.
Where to Stay Before Your Krabi Photoshoot
Tourists usually stay in one of two zones: Moo 5 or Moo 7. For a photo session, Moo 5 is the better pick. It sits right next to Ao Nang Beach, which is already a solid backdrop, and it's closer to the other beaches we like to shoot.
Staying in Moo 5 also cuts down on travel time during your session, so we spend less time in the car and more time at the locations.
Best Locations for a Krabi Photoshoot
Over the years we've tested almost every beach, cave, and viewpoint in the area. Here are the spots that consistently produce the strongest images.
Ao Nang Beach
The sand here is darker and firmer than most Thai beaches, and the waves break white against it, which creates a nice contrast and a cinematic look in the final photos. The beach stretches long enough that we always find empty space, no matter the season.
Ao Rok Bay
An unassuming cave tucked at the end of the coastal road. When the waves cooperate, we head down and shoot them crashing against the rocks. The results look editorial, almost like a magazine spread.
Phra Nang Beach and Princess Cave
Dramatic cliffs sitting right by the water. Getting there takes about an hour from Moo 5. You catch a longtail taxi boat near The Krabi Forest Homestay at the Railay beach boat dock, then walk from Railay through several hotels to reach Phra Nang. The path is a bit complicated because Rayavadee hotel blocks the direct route, but the location pays off. This setup pairs well with a lifestyle photoshoot if you want flowing dresses and dramatic cliffs in the same gallery.
Tonsai Beach Rock Climbing Area
More cliffs, more dramatic setups. The beach itself and the surrounding area have great spots, and it has a different vibe from Railay because of the climbing community.
Sa Kaeo
Emerald pools, small caves, and thick green nature. It's a calmer location, good for relaxing between shots and still producing strong portraits.
Emerald Pool
Similar to Sa Kaeo but more popular, so expect more visitors. Worth checking if you want that classic green-water look in your gallery.
Hotel Photoshoots in Krabi
If you're after a lifestyle session inside a resort, Rayavadee is the one we recommend. It has a wide area filled with trees, gardens, multiple pools, and a cave restaurant that doubles as a wedding venue (also see our wedding photography page if that's relevant). The resort sits right next to Princess Cave, which makes it easy to combine hotel and beach in the same session.
One honest note for non-hotel guests: Rayavadee has fenced off a large section, which extends the public walking path to the cave for anyone who isn't staying at the resort. The water sits ankle-deep next to the rocks, and waves often soak your shorts or shirt during the walk. Plan your outfits accordingly. Hotel guests have direct access and don't deal with this.
Day Trips From Krabi
If your trip is longer than a week, Krabi works as a base for nearby destinations. The most useful ones for travelers are:

- Khao Sok National Park for jungle and lake stays, we suggest 2 nights
- Similan Islands for snorkeling and diving tours
