What you actually get from us

This is not a photographer hiding behind a tree while you pretend nothing is happening. We work in front of you, giving small directions, and shoot the natural reaction that follows.

The work happens in the gap. We give you something to do, like walk, talk, or look at each other, then shoot the in-between seconds when your face relaxes. That is where the frames you keep come from.

Most of what you see in our gallery was taken in those gaps rather than during the obvious look-at-the-camera moments. We still get you a handful of straight shots for family, but most of the gallery stays natural, loose and unposed.

  • Transport between locations: paid by you (taxi or tuk-tuk, usually 100–200 THB). Only Sawasdee and Sawasdee Grand include a private van.
  • Entrance tickets: paid by you in cash on the day, where a location charges one, like the Ancient City.

On the shorter packages we order the taxi or tuk-tuk and travel together, and you pay cash. Transport is included on the 4-hour package.

01 / Direction

Actions, not poses

Telling someone to stand naturally makes them freeze. We give simple actions instead: walk three steps, whisper something silly, look at each other for a second then back at us. The action occupies the brain, and the camera catches the honest face that follows.

02 / Movement

Walking beats standing

Movement loosens shoulders, hands, and faces. Almost every booking starts with walking, because it settles the what-do-I-do-with-my-hands problem in about 30 seconds. From there we build into closer frames once you are warmed up.

03 / Conversation

Talking during the shoot

The camera is a barrier. We break it by chatting, asking small questions, making jokes. Someone mid-laugh or mid-thought looks alive. Someone thinking about their own face does not.

04 / Distance

Stepping back

With families we often set a wider frame and let the moment run. Kids are kids, parents react to the kids, and we shoot it. A 35mm for context, an 85mm when we want to compress and isolate.

05 / Burst shooting

Shooting through the whole thing

The moment a smile cracks lasts a fraction of a second, so we shoot in burst throughout and keep the strongest frame from each sequence. That is why you leave with up to 200, up to 400, or every usable imageOn Sawasdee there is no cap. Every usable frame from the day is edited and delivered. rather than a curated 20.

06 / Light and edit

Soft light, light edits

We can shoot throughout the day, but we plan the route around the light rather than treating every location the same. Harsh overhead sun is rarely flattering, so we choose the right streets, shade and angles for the hour. Our editing keeps skin tones natural, texture stays natural, and laugh lines stay in. Over-retouching defeats the whole point of shooting this way.

How a booking runs on the day

We plan the route before you arrive, so the time you pay for is spent shooting rather than deciding where to stand.

You do not need to prepare anything. We handle the direction from the first minute to the last.

  • Before the day You tell us who is coming and roughly what you want out of it. We come back with a route, a start time built around the light, and what to wear if you ask.
  • First fifteen minutes Walking and talking while you forget the camera is there. We shoot through it, and some of these frames end up in the final set.
  • Through the middle We move between spots, giving you something to do at each one and shooting the reaction. If something is not landing we drop it and try another approach. There is no script to get through.
  • Getting between locations On the shorter packages we order the taxi or tuk-tuk and travel together, and you pay cash. Transport is included on the 4-hour package. Either way, allow 15 minutes between stops, or 20 for Benchakitti, and more if it has just rained.
  • Outfit changes Unlimited within your booked time on the two larger packages. We plan the route so a change lands near somewhere you can actually use.
  • If it rains We can wait up to an hour, work under cover, postpone to another day, or cancel with your deposit refunded in full. The choice is yours.
  • The last stretch By now nobody is performing, which is when the strongest work usually happens. We also take a few straight shots here, the ones you send to family.
  • Afterward Every frame worth keeping is edited individually and delivered through a private gallery link. No charge per image and no watermarks.

Who will photograph you

Most candid sessions are shot by Jay. He has been behind the camera since 2018 and spent his first three years as a photojournalist. That is where he learned to read people fast and catch the real expression a second before it fades. His cues are small and practical, which is why first-timers stop feeling watched.

Kitsana comes from journalism and documentary work, including reporting for Business Insider and a community story exhibited in Washington, D.C. She watches the street around you and frames you inside it, so the photos show the place as well as the people. She also shoots on film if you want that texture.

Where we shoot in the city

Some streets pull natural reactions out of people and others fight you. These are the ones we work in most often, and roughly how many spotsA spot is one set-up inside a location: one alley, one staircase, one shopfront. Sabai covers 7 to 12 spots, Sanook 20 to 40, Sawasdee 30 to 50. we cover at each.

Old town

Talat Noi

Quiet alleys, classic cars, old shophouses. Less tourist energy than Yaowarat, so you stay relaxed in front of the lens.

We meet outside 965 BKK Cafe.

 Energy

Yaowarat

The street food and neon get reactions out of people in seconds. Strongest from 7pm once the signage is lit, and we start at 7pm sharp because the red neon spot can close shortly after.

Mondays are noticeably quieter, with fewer food stalls.

 Color

Pak Khlong Talat

The flower market gives constant movement, vendors and color. Pick up a bunch of flowers and walk with them, and the reactions take care of themselves.

We meet outside Floral Cafe at Napasorn, and the stop runs about 30 minutes.

 Calm

Benchakitti Forest Park

Wooden boardwalks, soft late light, room to walk and breathe. Our first pick for families and slower couple bookings.

We meet at the Ratchadaphisek Road entrance by the dog park. Add 20 minutes for traffic here rather than the usual 15.

 Cultural

The Ancient City

Historic structures across one open-air park, with plenty of quiet pockets to work in without crowds behind you.

It needs a 2-hour booking minimum and sits 40 to 60 minutes from most hotels, with tickets paid at the entrance (800 THB for foreign adults, checked October 2026).

Frequently asked questions

When do we get our photos?

Within 3 days on the 1-hour package, or within 24 hours on the 2-hour and 4-hour packages. Every frame in your gallery is fully edited, and nothing is charged per image.

What will the day cost me beyond the package?

Hair and makeup from 4,000 THB and styling advice from 500 THB if you want them, a room from 850 THB per hour for an indoor stretch, and 2,000 THB for 24-hour delivery on the shortest package. Beyond that, the taxis on the shorter packages and any entrance ticket, like the Ancient City, are paid in cash on the day. Nothing is charged per image afterwards.

What happens if it rains?

Rain here usually comes in bursts rather than lasting all day. We can wait up to an hour, work under cover, postpone to another day, or cancel with your deposit refunded in full. The choice is yours, not ours. Worth knowing that wet streets at night reflect neon beautifully, so a shower part-way through a Yaowarat booking often improves the frames.

How much of the booked time is actually shooting?

Most of it, but travel and outfit changes come out of it rather than being added on. Allow 15 minutes between locations, 20 for Benchakitti, and longer after rain. That is why we plan the route in advance and cluster the stops, and why the Ancient City needs a 2-hour booking at minimum: it sits 40 to 60 minutes out of the city.

What should we wear?

Something you can walk in for an hour without adjusting, since almost everything here involves movement. Solid colours read better than busy patterns, and for an evening Yaowarat booking bolder colours hold up against the neon. If you send us photos of a few options beforehand we'll tell you which works best against the route we've planned.

Can you shoot without anyone knowing we hired you?

For a proposal, yes. We arrive early, stay at a distance with a longer lens and shoot the reaction, so your partner sees nothing until it's done. For an ordinary session we work in front of you, because the direction is what makes the reactions land. Hiding and hoping produces very little worth keeping.

We have young kids. Does that change anything?

Only the pace and the location. We shoot wider and let them run rather than asking them to sit still, and we pick somewhere with shade and space, usually Benchakitti, rather than a crowded market. Expect the strongest frames in the first 40 minutes, before anyone gets hot or hungry, so we front-load the session rather than saving the best spot for last.

Who will photograph us, and in what language?

One photographer covers your whole session. Jay shoots most candid sessions in English or Russian. Kitsana, who comes from documentary work, shoots in Thai, English or Mandarin, and you can ask for either by name.
