Exploring the Teochew Chinese Cemetery: A Unique Photo Spot
The Teochew Chinese Cemetery in Sathorn is one of Bangkok’s hidden gems for photography. This 42-acre site gives you amazing backdrops where old tombstones mix with green trees to create photos you can’t get anywhere else in the city. Whether you want to take a photo for social media or create professional portraits, this location offers something truly special.
Trees create beautiful shadows on the Chinese grave yards, making great lighting for cinematic shoots. The paths that wind through the area give you many different angles for portraits and model photoshoot opportunities.
Planning Your Photoshoot at Wat Don Graveyard
We do photoshoots in the afternoon and early evening when the light is best. The golden sunlight coming through the trees makes your photos look amazing.

The History Behind Bangkok’s Chinese Community
This china cemetery was created in 1899 by the Teochew Association of Thailand for Chinese immigrants. It shows the mix of cultures that have made Bangkok what it is today.
Three different groups take care of the graveyard: the Teochew Association, the Poh Teck Tung Foundation, and the Hainan Dan Family Association. In 1996, the city renovated the area. Now it’s partly a public park while still preserving the graves.
Portrait Photography Among Historic Chinese Grave Yards
Taking portraits here gives you a completely different feel than a studio. The old tombstones and Chinese designs create a backdrop that makes your photos stand out.
We take photos that respect the place while showing your personal style. In one session, you can get many different moods – from thoughtful shots near the graves to bright, open ones on the tree-lined paths. During Halloween season, we can even create uniquely atmospheric photos that capture the historical essence of the location.
We can create these portrait styles here:
- Classic portraits with interesting backgrounds
- Photos that showcase the unique memorial features
- Striking silhouettes against the Chinese grave yards
- Natural light portraits with trees filtering the sun
Nearby Attractions: From Asiatique to Chong Nonsi Skywalk
After your photoshoot, we can visit other great spots nearby. Asiatique night market is just a short ride away. We can go from quiet daytime memorial ground photos to evening shots with city lights and river views.
The Chong Nonsi Skywalk is also close by. It gives you skyline views that pair nicely with your portraits from the historical site. Wat Sutthiwararam temple is another option nearby for more variety in your photos.
Local photographers often combine these locations for a diverse portfolio of images that showcase different aspects of Bangkok’s character.
Combining Fitness and Photography at This Historical Site
Many locals use this area for exercise and recreation, jogging, and fitness activities. This mix of old and new creates interesting sports photography opportunities that tell a story.
If you enjoy fitness, we can arrange a fitness photoshoot with a cultural background. The jogging paths make perfect settings for action shots unlike any regular gym photos. The site is also popular for birdwatching, adding another dimension to your outdoor activity photos.
Our best approaches for fitness photos here:
- Afternoon sessions when local joggers are around
- Running shots on the tree-lined paths
- Using the outdoor exercise areas
- Modern fitness wear against traditional Chinese designs
The balance of calm and activity makes this place special for fitness photography.
