Where We Shoot

Location for Photoshoot in Bangkok:
9 Routes We Actually Shoot

Nine routes we shoot regularly, with what each place looks like on camera, the best time of day to be there, and how long you need. Pick one of them, or tell us the look you want and we will build a route around it.

Local Knowledge

Every Location Below Is One We Shoot Ourselves

After more than 1,000 photoshoots in Bangkok, we know the city like the back of our hand. Below are places to visit through the eyes of photographers who actually shoot here, rather than another copied or generic list.

In each route below, a solid dot marks a core stop and a hollow dot marks an optional add-on. The stated session time covers the core stops.

01 / Temples & Riverside

Temple Sunset Magic: Wat Pho and Riverside Views

Wat Pho is one of Bangkok's most recognisable temples, but for photography its real strength is the variety of courtyards, tiled stupas and warm late-afternoon light.

We'll start our session around 5pm (depending on the season) to catch the best late-afternoon light at this Buddhist temple. The best part? It's just a 3-minute walk to a stunning sunset spot by the river - ideal for warm golden-hour portraits.

Want to make your photos truly special? You can rent traditional Thai costumes for your Wat Pho session, which works especially well with the temple's architecture and courtyards. This Bangkok itinerary typically takes an hour, but we can extend to two hours if you want more photos in extra spots. For night photography enthusiasts, we can spend less time here and add Chinatown's vibrant neons to your collection.

Locations

Session time: 1-2 hours
👗Outfit: Lightweight linen or cotton works well in the heat, and neutral, earthy or brighter colours can all work; women need their shoulders and knees covered for the temple visit; bring a light scarf as backup coverage.
📌Note: The Reclining Buddha hall can get crowded, so we often recommend visiting it separately rather than using session time inside. If you're renting Thai clothing, arrive around 30 minutes before the session to get changed.

02 / Cultural Immersion

Cultural Immersion: Talat Noi and Chinatown by Day

For those who want to explore Bangkok's cultural heart, our Talat Noi and Chinatown give us one of the strongest combinations of texture, colour and everyday street life in Bangkok. We'll begin among Talat Noi's murals, old shophouses and narrow lanes before hopping on a tuk-tuk to Chinatown's bustling streets.

On Yaowarat Road (Chinatown's main street), we'll visit the colorful Sampheng market where vendors sell everything from fabrics to street food.

This is one of our favourite areas to shoot, with its vibrant colours and everyday local atmosphere.

For another completely different look, we can add another hour to visit the popular Song Wat Road nearby - one of the quieter corners most visitors walk straight past.

Locations

Session time: 1-2 hours
👗Outfit: Breathable streetwear with hat and sunglasses for sun protection; comfortable walking shoes for exploring market areas; light layers for air-conditioned spaces.

03 / Urban Night

After Dark: Mahanakhon and Samyan Mitrtown

For those seeking dramatic urban shots, our night photography session at Mahanakhon area creates dark, cinematic photographs that will make your social media stand out.

We use LED lights, flash photography and special techniques to create moody, red-lit portraits against the backdrop of this iconic skyscraper.

After capturing these urban vibes, we'll head to Samyan Mitrtown's sky garden where you can pose against the stunning Bangkok skyline. This rooftop viewpoint offers panoramic views that showcase the city's vastness. Want more? We can extend the session to include neon-lit photos in Chinatown to capture the full range of one of the strongest after-dark stretches in the city.

Locations

The sky garden at Samyan Mitrtown
Session time: 1-2 hours
👗Outfit: Black, white, red or other solid colours work particularly well at night. Avoid very fine patterns, which break up under low light.

04 / Urban-Nature Mix

Urban-Nature Mix: A Dating App Portfolio in One Route

Our most-booked route for dating profiles combines the sharp urban landscape of the King Power Mahanakhon area with the natural beauty of Lumphini Park. This balanced mix allows you to show different sides of you, from polished city portraits to relaxed park photos - from sophisticated city dweller to relaxed nature lover.

This session isn't limited to dating portraits; we can create a lifestyle album for your social media. Nearby attractions include the French-style "Brioche by Heaven" bakery cafe and the spectacular Yao Rooftop Bar for portraits with a cocktail and panoramic city views. For something more active, we can add action photos at nearby "FITFAC Sathon" Muay Thai gym or head to the local fruit market and street food at Soi Silom 20 for candid frames of everyday life.

Locations

Brioche by Heaven Cafe
Fruit and street food market at Soi Silom 20
Session time: 1-4 hours
👗Outfit: Casual trendy outfit for urban shots that transitions well to park settings; bring light layers and comfortable shoes for walking between locations.
📌Note: It's a good idea to bring a few changes of clothes. For multiple outfits, we'll plan changing stops along the route where possible.

05 / Riverside Treasures

Riverside Treasures: ICONSIAM, Lhong1919, and Tsai Eatery

This tour starts at the luxurious ICONSIAM mall - The clean architecture around ICONSIAM works for polished portraits, business photos and modern city shots. We'll also capture natural moments with coffee at an outdoor cafe. Next, we'll take a taxi to Lhong1919, a calm old Chinese mansion with a shrine - a quieter spot than Bangkok's headline attractions, and it photographs well.

Our final stop is a quieter riverside spot: Tsai Eatery, a photogenic restaurant by the river with a calmer atmosphere than the major waterfront attractions. If you want more diversity in your photos, we can extend the tour to the flower market and a bridge for golden hour shots - some of the strongest riverside backdrops in the city for that perfect sunset glow.

Locations

Tsai Eatery
Flower market and bridge
Session time: 2-3 hours
👗Outfit: Light summer dress or linen shirt with pants for a polished riverside look; one or two simple accessories are enough here; the architecture and the river are already doing the work.

06 / Vintage Bangkok

Vintage Bangkok: Train Station, Temple, and Park

Step back in time at Hua Lamphong, the old train station where local passenger trains still create a lived-in atmosphere rather than a museum-like one. The platforms, old signage and architecture give the photographs a distinctly vintage Bangkok feel, capturing a side of the city many tourists miss. Next, we'll visit Wat Hua Lamphong - a beautiful, non-touristy temple where locals come to pray, make wishes, and meet street fortune tellers after dark.

We'll finish the session in Lumphini Park, one of Bangkok's largest central parks. Other nearby attractions worth adding include Dragon Town, a location favored by local photographers for its urban architecture, and Baan Suan Sarthorn cafe with its pond, tropical greens, and mini waterfall - perfect for those seeking unusual and unique photo locations.

Locations

Session time: 2-4 hours
👗Outfit: Retro-inspired lightweight outfit that works with the nostalgic train station setting; women need shoulders & knees covered for temple visit; breathable fabrics essential.

07 / Tropical Urban Mix

Tropical Urban Mix: Cafes, Starbucks, Muay Thai, and Park

Start your photoshoot at Baan Suan Sathorn cafe, surrounded by tropical greenery - ideal for business photos with your laptop or casual social media content. We'll then take a taxi to one of the most photogenic Starbucks locations we've shot at, inside The Davis Bangkok on Sukhumvit 24, featuring beautiful European architecture.

For something completely different, our next stop is the colorful Yokkao Muay Thai gym where we'll capture fun action shots of you practicing Thailand's national sport. We'll end at Benchakitti Park for serene nature photos among flowers and by the lake. This diverse route gives you four completely different Bangkok looks in a single session.

Locations

Session time: 3 hours
👗Outfit: Tropical casual for cafe photos; pack activewear for the Muay Thai gym portion; quick-dry fabrics recommended for comfort between locations.

08 / Local Life & Sacred Sites

Local Life and Sacred Sites: Cafes, Markets, and Temples

Discover one of Bangkok's quieter finds, including Rama 8 Cafe in a residential area across the river. After capturing photos with various cool setups and drinks, we'll take a short taxi ride to Mahanak fruit market for fun pictures with exotic Thai fruits.

Next, we'll visit two remarkable temples within walking distance of each other. First is Wat Saket (the "Golden Mount"), Wat Saket gives us bells, temple details and panoramic city views as we climb toward the Golden Mount.

Then we'll explore Loha Prasat with its unique architecture, nice views, and authentic atmosphere where you can experience monks chanting.

If you're interested in more Bangkok temples, we can add Wat Benchamabophit, famous yet not crowded, with beautiful views and marble architecture.

Locations

Rama 8 Cafe
Mahanak Fruit Market
Session time: 3-4 hours
👗Outfit: Cool, light fabrics with modest coverage; women need shoulders & knees covered for both temples; hat recommended for sun protection during walks.

09 / Outside the City

Outside the City: Erawan Museum and Ancient City

If you want to get beyond central Bangkok, these two locations are worth the trip. The Erawan Museum, with its massive three-headed elephant structure, offers one-of-a-kind architecture unlike anything else in the world. The museum grounds include a peaceful park with shrines, charming bridges, and a river.

About 20 minutes away by taxi is The Ancient City, a vast open-air museum. For a fun activity, rent a golf cart to drive around this vast complex featuring a huge range of Thai architectural backdrops. This family-friendly site includes cafes, restaurants and shops and, best of all, is usually much quieter than central Bangkok's major attractions. We recommend a 4-hour session here, although 2 hours is possible if you want a shorter visit. Because the site is roughly an hour from central Bangkok, we don't normally combine this route with downtown locations.

Locations

Session time: 4 hours
👗Outfit: Lightweight vacation wear suitable for extensive outdoor exploration; sun hat, sunglasses, and very comfortable walking shoes; bring water bottle and small towel for humidity.

Or Build Your Own Route

Every route can be customized. If the right location for photoshoot in Bangkok isn't on the list, we can swap places in or add ones worth considering:

Raynue

Colourful interiors, greenery, a bar and elevated city views

Chatuchak and Rot Fai parks

Large green parks with quieter corners, open views and seasonal flower areas popular with local visitors

Teochew Cemetery Park

Atmospheric cemetery with Chinese graves, architecture, and a large park - rarely visited by international tourists

Wat Sutthiwararam

A quiet local temple near Asiatique near Asiatique

Sindhorn Village Park

Charming green area between two premium hotels and shopping plaza

Wat Sitaram

A lesser-known temple with authentic Thai atmosphere and a famous Muay Thai gym nearby

Wat Ratchabophit

Our favorite temple (though formal photoshoots are no longer permitted)

Wat Arun

It's on almost every Bangkok must-see list for good reason, but it gets extremely crowded, much like the Grand Palace. When photography is the priority we usually recommend Wat Pho or one of the quieter temples above

Wat Prayun

Unique temple with a turtle pond where you can feed the turtles

For those who have visited Bangkok before

Wat Sam Phran, Bubble in the Forest, After the Rain

Distinctive locations outside central Bangkok; a private driver makes this route much easier

Suan Luang Rama IX

Beautiful park, though far from other attractions

Wat Suthat

If you have more time or you're in the area, it's a works well for a 30-minute mini session, with distinctive architecture and Chinese stone pagodas

One of our favorite rooftop bars for photos (note that published photos are not permitted, only for private use)
